How it all began

It almost sounds too good to be true: in the early 2000s, a handful of people from different parts of Austria met by chance in a small beach bar on the coast of Koroni.

What began as a holiday acquaintance became a lasting friendship — and family.

Over the years, this grew into a deep bond with Koroni. Little by little, a shared life between Austria and the coast of Messinia began to take shape.

What connected them from the beginning was a shared passion for wine. At the estate of Barbara’s father, Friedrich Gruber — internationally known for building high-end wine cellars — the first wines were made there, at first on a very small scale and only for private consumption.

With every vintage, the conviction grew stronger: the area around Koroni has the potential to produce great wines. What began as a hobby gradually became a calling — to make this quality visible and give the wines of the region a place on the international wine map.
