A remarkable climate

Even in the ancient Greek world, Messinia was regarded as a region of exceptional fertility.

Here, intense summer heat is tempered by cooling sea breezes and higher-altitude vineyards. At the same time, the distinctive soils retain water for months — enough to allow concentrated grapes to ripen without irrigation, even in hot summers.

From the beginning, our focus has been entirely on red wine.Merlot, Syrah and Grenache come from old vineyards, where deeply rooted vines produce naturally low yields of remarkable concentration and structure.

Building on the old vines of international varieties already rooted here, we are carefully developing Lacules further — with newly planted indigenous Greek varieties such as Avgoustiatis, Limniona and Mavrotragano. Varieties that express this origin in their own way.
